Caxadaço Beach
The large rock wall overlooking the open sea hides a small slice of paradise on Ilha Grande. With protected waters, Caxadaço Beach forms a small bay filled with calm, colorful waters.
From the top of the rocks—reachable via a short trail on the left side of the beach—you can see how a simple natural barrier can transform the choppy Atlantic Ocean into a breath-taking calm. Take advantage of the stop on the boat tour not only to snorkel but also to enjoy the view from the top of the rocks. From there, some prefer to dive straight into the water, but this is dangerous. It's best to walk back to enjoy the rest of the trip.
When the speedboats (which often arrive all at the same time) leave the beach, you can appreciate the beauty of this narrow, small strip of sand, just 15 meters long. To see Caxadaço alone, you'll need to hike a strenuous trail. The route can be taken via the T14 trail, starting from Vila do Abraão, which is 8,150 meters long and takes an average of 2 hours and 40 minutes to Praia de Dois Rios. From there, you'll need to access the T15 trail, which is 2,400 meters long and takes an average of 1 hour and 20 minutes to Praia do Caxadaço. It's a route that requires physical fitness and a lot of stamina. At Praia de Dois Rios, during high season, there are usually fast boats that take tourists back to Abraão, but it's not possible to be 100% sure they'll be there. Check with Abraão boatmen in advance to find the contact information for someone who can pick up your group at a scheduled time.
